Tanzania Photographic Safari – 12 Days

DAY 01: ARRIVE AT KILIMANJARO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (Airport Code JRO).
Welcome to Tanzania! Clear Immigration and Customs formalities. Greeted by your professional Driver Guide and transferred to Arusha for overnight at Lake Duluti Serena Lodge.

DAY 02: ARUSHA-TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK.
Breakfast at the lodge, drive to Tarangire National Park for lunch at Tarangire Safari Lodge. On the way, stop at Meserani for souvenir shopping. Afternoon free to enjoy the lodge and the stunning view of the Tarangire River. Dinner and overnight at Tarangire Safari Lodge. (B.L.D.)

DAY 03: TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK.
After breakfast, morning game drive. The park is named after the Tarangire River which rises in Tanzania’s central highland and supports the ecosystem of flora and fauna. The river lures thousands of plains game to its banks with a variety of Carnivores, Herbivores and Predators. After lunch at the lodge, proceed with afternoon game drive. Return for dinner and overnight at Tarangire Safari Lodge. (B.L.D.)

DAY 04: TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK-MTO WA MBU.
After breakfast, morning game drive through Tarangire National Park, famous for ancient baobab trees and elephants. Visit an Orphanage on the way to Mto wa Mbu. Later visit the Makonde Woodcarvers to watch the master craftsmen at work making genuine woodcarvings and artwork from banana leaves which depict African ethnic groups in their authentic ways of life. Interact with local people at this small town famous for bananas, agriculture and tourism before proceeding on to the edge of the Great Rift Valley. Dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge. DAY 05: NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA & MAASAI VILLAGE VISIT.
Breakfast in the Lodge, then drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a world heritage site where people and their early ancestors have co-existed with wildlife for nearly four million years. After hot lunch at the lodge, drive to a nearby village (Boma) to experience authentic Maasai culture. The Maasai tribe is known for their distinctive dress and dancing, and still follows their traditions and customs to this day. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge. (B.L.D.)

DAY 06: NGORONGORO CRATER TOUR.
Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest inactive and intact volcanic caldera that provides a unique habitat sheltering some 25,000 animals. The Maasai are allowed to take their precious cattle, sheep and goats into the Crater for water and grazing, but not to live or cultivate there. Experience the breathtaking descent and ascent to the Crater rim. Early morning game drive with breakfast and lunch in the Crater. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge (B.L.D.)
DAY 07: FULL NGORONGORO CRATER TOUR. After a relaxed breakfast continue with a full day tour with lunch in the Crater. Continue exploration until the sun descent brings purple and pink splashing onto the surrounding crater sides. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge. (B.L.D.)

DAY 08: NGORONGORO CRATER-SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK.
After breakfast drive to Oldupai/Olduvai Gorge. The site where Leakey’s made their startling origins of man discoveries is the most famous archaeological location in East Africa. Visit the museum to see fossils and artifacts of our human ancestors, have an informative lecture about the site, and visit the excavations with an official guide. Proceed to Serengeti National Park with a stop at the entrance gate for picnic lunch. Continue game drive to the lodge. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Serena Lodge/ Serengeti Tanzania Bush Camp (B.L.D.)

DAY 09: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK.
After breakfast, morning and afternoon game drives in this ‘endless plain’, the meaning of Serengeti in the Maasai language. En route, the landscape changes character with the appearance of rocky outcropping ‘kopjes’, which are often the napping places of magnificent prides of lions or cheetah. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Serena Lodge /Serengeti Tanzania Bush Camps (B.L.D.)

DAY 10: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK.
Enjoy the sunrise for an early morning game drive at Serengeti with picnic breakfast. Return for late hot lunch at the lodge; relax and enjoy the afternoon at the lodge. Gather for sundowner’s festivity before dinner and overnight at Serengeti Serena Lodge/Serengeti Tanzania Bush Camp (B.L.D.)

DAY 11: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK.
After breakfast, full day game drive with picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight at Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp (B.L.D.)

DAY 12: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK.
Full day at Serengeti National Park with both morning and evening game drives. It’s difficult to understand how the wildlife we encounter can survive in this harsh environment. All meals and overnight at Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp (B.L.D.)

DAY 13: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK.
Early morning game drive in Serengeti with picnic breakfast. Return to the camp for late lunch. Optional late afternoon game drive. Overnight at Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp (B.L.D.)

DAY 14: DEPARTURE.
After breakfast transfer to Seronera airstrip with en route game drive. The flight leaves at 11:15 a.m. and arrives Arusha Airport at 12:30 p.m. Upon arrival be transferred for hot lunch in Arusha followed by a day room and shower at Lake Duluti Serena Lodge. Later transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight back home. If time permits, you can do your last shopping in Arusha. (B.L.)
